About Us

Eva von Bahr has over 30 years of experience repairing woodwind instruments, from piccolo flutes to contra bassoons and everything in between.

Eva von Bahr moved from Sweden to San Francisco in 1989 to study bassoon performance at San Francisco Conservatory of Music. While there, she added an apprenticeship to her already full load of classes. Those sessions under the guidance of renowned repair technician Daniel Deitch at Woodwind and Brass Workshop in San Francisco, was for Eva, by far the most joyous and interesting studies while attending the Conservatory. She excelled and was soon rewarded with larger projects.

After graduating, Eva worked at Best Instrument Repair in Oakland, owned by Richard Akright and managed by Repair Technician Robert Gross. Eva also has experience from Music Store and Repair Shop; Magic Flute in San Rafael then owned by Michael Michell and Woodwind Repair Technician Michael Blaney, whom she worked with for many years. Events unfolded and Eva moved Fort Bragg to the Mendocino Coast in early 2000. Even though she didn’t have a full-fledged shop to call her own at that time, this didn’t stop her from continuing to serve local musicians and our community. Eva opened her own shop in the fall of 2025 and is currently repairing all woodwind instruments for Fort Bragg, Kelseyville, Point Arena and Willits School Districts, College of Mendocino in addition to repairing for symphony, band musicians and students of all skill levels, from the coastal Mendocino community to the Bay Area.

Now finally, she has a dedicated magical woodwind repair shop, nestled in the forest on top of the Albion Ridge. Eva welcomes you gladly at her shop, or if it is more convenient for you, she can meet up in the village of Mendocino. Please call or email to ask questions, make an appointment and to get directions to her shop.
